AUTUMN NIGHT
AUTUMN NIGHT
Autumn night, lonely night, the live murmur of a night
When the mountain trail behind the rondavel cottage darkening
Dropping tears for missing mother's bosom
Coming up the floor edge, just sit and count the stars
Autumn night, silent night, the sleepless night
Sound of wild goose crying high and low
Dropping tears for missing mother's bosom
Coming up the floor edge, just sit and count the stars

LIKE A SPRING COMES CROSS THE LIVER
LIKE A SPRING COMES CROSS THE RIVER
When will the thin ice on front river warm up
Loaded ship emerges that much through the daybreak fog
Embracing armful of pale pink floral bouquet cross the water misty glow
Alight the hazy glow on upriver village
When will the thin ice on front river warm up
Loaded ship emerges that much through the daybreak fog
Today again shall flow like a raft following river
Bird's singing wind's whistling flutter like water stream
Unpack my spring into the dark side of my heart
Gorgeous longing speechless yearning speechless
speechlessly flow
Bird's singing wind's whistling flutter like water stream
flutter like water stream
SONG OF HOPE (IN THIS WORLD OF WIND AND DUST)
SONG OF HOPE (IN THE WORLD OF WIND AND DUST)
Meeting this world of wind and dust
What would be your hope?
Shall enjoying wealth and honor (be)
Enough of your hope?
Under the blue sky the brilliant moon
Pondering
Everything in this world seems a dream once again
In the middle of spring dream
Even enjoying wealth and honor
It is like a dream on the spring hillock
Living hundred long years
Is just a fog in the morning
Dabble and paddle pleasant chat and peaceful pleasure
Sinking under booze and women, gambling and game
Forgetting the world and everything
Will it be enough to your hope?
Meeting this world of wind and dust
What would be your hope?
Forgetting the world and everything
Will it be enough to your hope?
STARING AT STARS AND THE MOON
STARING AT STARS AND THE MOON
Like stars glittering faraway
Wish to play get together amicably
Heaven's Kingdom, the stars Kingdom high and blue
Wish to get there and live there
Like the moon smiling always
Wish to smile and share the whisper
Kingdom of smile, Kingdom of the moon everlasting
Wish to get there and smile like them
Wish to smile like them
그리워
MISSING
MISSING
Missing and missing you look you up
My longing old beloved never is seen
Camomile pitiful
Reed flowers flutter in the wind
Heart can't find any receiver
Just looking at the heaven faraway
Times when tears and smiles all past and gone
Let me never count them in vain
Me inside your heart you inside my heart
Let us go keeping only them
Missing and missing you look you up
Wandering the hillside road going after all day long

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
The sound of a cart clatters rounds the summit
The shape of a girl drawing water lovely like a flower
To push open the twig gate and watch the field
All kinds of grain overflowing showed in the dazzling morning sun shine
Wafting scent of gourd flowers enjoying the village even myriad years
Who can say it bored them
Nicker of a foal going over the hill
The cloud speechless among the flowing brook
Farmer's wine ripen properly watching the full harvest
Smiles run over on each faces all in sweat
Wafting scent of gourd flowers enjoying the village even myriad years
Who can say it bored them
Farmer's wine ripen properly watching the full harvest
Smiles run over on each faces all in sweat
Enjoying even myriad years
Who can say it bored them

THE BARLEY FIELD
As I walk along the path by barley field
Sound of calling someone stops me
For the old memories are lonely, blowing whistle
The sweet song heard on the rim of my ears
Looking back but nobody seen
Only the empty sky in sunset fills my eyes

THE OLD DIAMOND MOUNTAINS
THE OLD DIAMOND MOUNTAINS
Whose creation is it, pure and charming mountain
These old twelve thousand peaks telling no words
At last every free people adjust their dresses
Once again calling you my Diamond Mountain
Myriad years glamorous mountain countless years never been visited
Finally today does the day come to visit here Diamond Mountain it is calling me
Is Biro summit that peak is still the same
Is white cloud and pine wind also passing it casually
Never be shown to the footstep myriad distance mount and sea
Until our smoldered sorrow all untied
Myriad years glamorous mountain countless years never been visited
Finally today does the day come to visit here Diamond Mountain it is calling me
THE GARDEN BALSAM
THE GARDEN BALSAM
The garden balsam standing under the fenced off
Your figure is desolate
Long and lengthy days on summer season
When your flowers blossomed adorably
So lovely young ladies
Greeted you and played with you
Without notice the summer has gone
Autumn wind blowing lightly
And invading heartless
Your beautiful flowers
It is falling it is getting old
Your figure is desolate
In the cold wind of northern ice
Your shape comes disappeared
But your soul dreaming the peace
Is still here yet so,
Wish you will born again
In the spring wind of serenity

Shakespearean Tragedy Macbeth and the Bible
1. Introduction
서론
It would be impossible ambition to write down another pieces of Macbeth and the Bible. They are the master pieces of human race and connecting and comparing them is purely private and temporal trial which can be approachable not as a complete analysis but as a personal admiration.
However, connecting Macbeth and the Bible might be a meaningful work of imagination that examines two opposite human natures following the Kingdom of Heaven and falling to the Hell.
They are the consequences and the differences of the questions of to be or not to be and to die or to live (Korean traditional way of the translation of the verse) in the Genesis and the world of Shakespeare. In the world of “fair is foul and foul is fair”, to know which is fair and which is foul first means huge difference living and admiring this world.
In this paper there is nothing new. Everything has already been given. It is stars in the darkness, shade beside the sunbeam and yet unborn human being.
The matter is the possibility to write down it properly.
2. Connection
연결점
Before connecting the Bible and Macbeth, two propositions should be clearly mentioned. Two different names of Genesis’ God have to be examined and matter of life and existence should be identified. This will make it possible to study concerning the mission that the last individual even if he/she is the last sinner who would be perished must be concerned and saved, surely including the lady Macbeth and Macbeth and also this will make it possible how we should treat the unborn human being directly speaking the aborted babies. All these matters are connected with one of the most famous questions; to be or not to be this is the question.
Ironically, Korean language does not have the corresponsive translation so they translate it roughly as ‘to die or to live, this is the question.’ There was no problem concerning this translation until now as I know. But the matter of existence and the life of human being should be treated more cautiously. For example, aborted babies exist but did not get the chance to live and to have the right of their species legally and biologically. And if we consider Macbeth as a model of living creature he did not live, die and perish but still he exists with a different form and value. We die but cannot be not to be. (Aborted baby and character Macbeth exist but not be born in this real world. They are the double layers between the creation and the realization. Macbeth and aborted children are possible at the level of creation but did not reach to the level of realization.)
Elohim at chapter 1 of Genesis and YHWH at chapter 2 of the book were the creators of human being at different level. We might be absolutely humble before the question of ‘in the beginning’ or ‘before the beginning’ because it fails our knowledge and imagination. If we ask to be or not to be, we should ask them to Elohim and if we ask to die or to live, it should go to YHWH because the more elaborate form of the existence would be the life and the death.
While this paper concerns only the matter of to die and to live, Macbeth is just one of tragic happening created long times ago. But if we concern the matter of to be or not to be, and concern it connecting the characters such as Eve of the Genesis and King David of the Samuels, we may read it still alive and achieve one of the most important points in our lives.
More important matter is that Macbeth is the model of mortals who had unsolved and unavoidable consequences named the sin and the judgment. It is easy to solve the matter with the eternal punishment but that is very irresponsible solution because even it is convenient escape for the others but to himself who must be perished, the failure to rescue one individual is the failure of the universe to him, just imagine that the individual were yourself.
This is the reason why I choose Macbeth and the Bible and connect and contrast them.
3. Lady Macbeth and Eve
“You will not surely die” the serpent said to the woman, “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it, she also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it. (Genesis 3:4~6)
and you shall put
This night’s great business into my dispatch,
Which shall to all our nights and days to come
Give solely sovereign sway and masterdom.
(Act1 Scene6 79~82)
To alter favor ever is to fear
Leave all the rest to me.
(Act1 Scene6 85,86)
Fair is foul, and foul is fair
(Act1 Scene1 12)
The deeds of Lady Macbeth and Eve were foul considering their intentions and consequences. Why then the fair is foul and vice versa? If there between the fair and foul were the same, this expression all goes nonsense. What these distinction and comparison mean? For Eve, God’s order to forbid the fruit considered fair and Eve’s disobedience the foul. But in this case, the foul was not the kind in the 100m sprinter, but in the basketball. By making a foul, the player itself did not disqualified, but the foul was carefully planned and used to win the game. Only God knows all and planned all we declare. If there were no Eve, there were no Jesus, and even none of us could be born. But it was not the kind of drama which the author writes everything and the characters appear and disappear continually. It is more like a drama without any script. And life is absolutely not the spectator’s sports.
If we admit that God already planned all and we have total free will, how can they stand by together? It looks like we see the destination but there is no path to walk. But ironically again, this road is too broad and wide so it looks as if there are no roads but actually that is the one and the broadest road, that is the already planned but make it possible to support the free will of us. So foul players are not the one who should be punished eternally but someone who should learn how to play more skillfully without committing foul again and manage their role better than before.
In the Macbeth, Lady Macbeth chose the wrong direction to support her husband and the blessing of oblivion was not hers. But Lady Macbeth’s foul was Shakespeare’s chosen path and at the same time by her own free will. Then her foul was her fair. Without her conscience and feeling of guilty she would never learn anything. Her foul was fair enough for her.
4. Macbeth and King David
Macbeth wanted to be a king. The concept of a king is not realistic enough for our generation. Better understanding of it can be available if we compare it to the way we are buying a lotto lottery every weeks to get unimaginably huge amount of money or the other things we can get with money, power, love, happiness and all the virtue combined could be closer to the concept of the king at that time.
If we cannot estimate the value of the position, the king, and its temptation, we hardly understand what it meant to us of ascending to the crown. Macbeth was amazed when he heard just the hint he would be the king. We are not sure what did it really mean to him to be a king. Was it originally his dream come true and his aim of life at the first place or did the weird sisters plant that seed of greed in him with their tempting prophecy?
To be a king and a queen was such a temptation which can be compared to that of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. Actually the existence of the king was the punishment to the people disobedient to God. People would suffer because they wanted the human king according to the Bible. But to be a king meant that he was chosen by God and be blessed. Not every king was happy and blessed. Absolutely not was Macbeth. He even never was being called the king Macbeth like the King David nor the King Saul in the book of Samuel.
But there were so many contrasting descriptions between Macbeth and King David, and the most distinctive difference is that King David was God chosen and Macbeth was not. It is so painful finding that someone were God beloved but some others were not. No argument is useful for that matter but as I described earlier in this paper, even the least beloved one has their own value of their lives, and I believe in that last individual must be saved finally.
Macbeth is really one of the great tragedies but analyzing it with the Bible, even his life ends as tragic character but as concerning his existence Shakespeare created great model of helpless mortals but meaningful model of all human being should beloved and the term King Macbeth is such an arrogant human pursuing unachievable ambition disregarding his own nature but not the last one who should be perished.
5. Conclusion
결론
The astonishing feature of the contrast between Adam and Eve versus Lady Macbeth and Macbeth was that the former were blaming each other in front of each other's faces but the latter were not blaming each other over their fate. But it was understandable concerning facing their creator while they committed such a disobedient would pressed them enormously.
Now facing all the disasters we have created, we finally entered the stage of apocalyptic reality. Disaster seems unavoidable and nobody can change the direction and we do not know who can do that evil or be blamed for. We are like a Macbeth who entered in to the combat who already knew he lost already. Even we are not at the position of the king but at the level of common citizen, fate requests the change of the direction of the way we live now.
Now people's leaders are not God's chosen king but democratically elected presidents. But this half-blind democracy and the leaders whose sights are equally blind do not know what will happen next several generation. Some of them are pretending they are some prophets but are such a huge egocentrics and this will never help us searching through the new way of living sustainable. Now is the time for us to realize why we live and die but still exist and Macbeth tells us that we should stop to pretend that all of them are illusions like the Final Judgement eternally postponing. To live or to die, to be or not to be is certainly a difficult question. But, how to live, how to die and how to be is the core of the question.
